My past was misery and struggle. Growing up, I never really had a stable life. My mom and dad were constantly arguing, and eventually, they divorced when I was just a teenager. I was forced to bounce around between different kinfolk’s houses, never really feeling like I belonged.

But all challenges I faced, I always found solace in video games. They provided me with an escape route from the turmoil of my real life and allowed me to become immersed in virtual worlds. I spent countless hours playing games, improving my skills as time went on.

Then, someday, something altered my life for good. I was enjoying a game online with some friends when I was suddenly cut off from the server. At first, I assumed it was just a glitch, but as it turned out, my internet service had been disconnected due to an outstanding bill that my mom and dad had neglected to pay.

I was heartbroken. How to be able to play my favorite games without any access to internet? Still, rather than wallow in self-pity, I made the decision to take matters into my own hands. I began saving up my allowance and doing odd jobs for neighbors in order to pay for my own internet service. It was not easy, but finally, I was able to get back online and continue playing the games that I loved.
